Part I
Profoundly- penetrating or entering deeply into subjects of thought or knowledge; having deep insight or understanding
Nuisance- an obnoxious or annoying person, thing, condition, practice, etc.
Harem- a part of a “household” reserved for wives, concubines, and female servants.

Spry- active; nimble; agile; energetic; brisk
Upbraid- to find fault with or reproach severely; censure
Reverberating- to reecho or resound
Plaintive- expressing sorrow or melancholy; mournful
Mulling- to study or ruminate; ponder
Searing- to burn or char the surface of
Breadth- distance, extent, size, or dimension; openness and lack of restriction, esp of viewpoint or interest

Shrouded- to cover; hide from view
Scoundrels- an unprincipled, dishonorable person; villain
Unobtrusive- not noticeable; inconspicuous, unassertive, or reticent
Amiably- having or showing pleasant, good-natured personal qualities; affable
Indisposition- noun form of indispose - to make ill, especially slightly; to put out of the proper condition for something; make unfit

Dunning - to make repeated and insistent demands upon, especially for the payment of a debt
premonition- a feeling of anticipation of or anxiety over a future event; presentiment
blurting- to utter suddenly or inadvertently; divulge impulsively or unadvisedly
glowering- to look or stare with sullen dislike, discontent, or anger

lavish- expended, bestowed, or occurring in profusion; using or giving in great amounts; prodigal
profusion- abundance; abundant quantity
compelling- tending to compel, as to force or push toward a course of action; overpowering
agape- with the mouth wide open, as in wonder, surprise, or eagerness

Furtive- taken, done, used, etc., surreptitiously or by stealth; secret
Impelled- to drive or urge forward; press on; incite or constrain to action
Congealed- to change from a soft or fluid state to a rigid or solid state, as by cooling or freezing
Bestowed- to present as a gift; give; confer
Emphatic- uttered, or to be uttered, with emphasis; strongly expressive
Undaunted- undismayed; not discouraged; not forced to abandon purpose or effort
Borne- to hold up; support: to hold or remain firm under (a load)

Metamorphosis- a profound change in form from one stage to the next in the life history of an organism
Impulsiveness- actuated or swayed by emotional or involuntary impulses

Giddy- impulsive; scatterbrained; dizzy
Callously- insensitive; indifferent; unsympathetic

Perverse- willfully determined or disposed to go counter to what is expected or desired; contrary
Obstinacy- the quality or state of being obstinate; stubbornness.
Laboriously- requiring much work, exertion, or perseverance
Reproach- to find fault with; blame; censure
Prerogative- an exclusive right, privilege, etc., exercised by virtue of rank, office, or the like
Commotion- violent or tumultuous motion; agitation; noisy disturbance
Inquisitive- given to inquiry, research, or asking questions; eager for knowledge; intellectually curious
Exasperated- to irritate or provoke to a high degree; annoy extremely
Anguish- excruciating or acute distress, suffering, or pain
Abide- to remain; continue; stay
Superfluous- being more than is sufficient or required; excessive
Flustered- to put into a state of agitated confusion
Intervened- to come between disputing people, groups, etc.; intercede; mediate
Substantiate- to establish by proof or competent evidence
Tentatively- unsure; uncertain; not definite or positive; hesitant
Accord- to be in agreement or harmony; agree
Persecutes- to pursue with harassing or oppressive treatment, especially because of religious or political beliefs, ethnic or racial origin, gender identity, or sexual orientation
Aback- toward the back
Waned- to decrease in strength, intensity, etc.
Vivacious- lively; animated
